The announcement from Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber that he will ask the state Attorney General to sue Oracle, the contractor behind the state’s failed Obamacare exchange, is great news for GOP Senate candidate Monica Wehby as it assures the fiasco will remain in the news. This, of course, is bad news for incumbent Senator Jeff Merkley, who is hoping to prevent the campaign dialogue from focusing on his unwavering Obamacare support.
This announcement concerning the Oracle lawsuit comes as the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) released a new survey showing Merkley leading Wehby 50-36. This is a defensive maneuver from the DSCC and shows that Wehby is still a threat, despite the incumbent’s lead in this and other surveys. In actuality, Merkely is likely to be hovering around 47-48% in the ballot — within striking distance for Wehby.
